Women Self-Defense

When asked if Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is recommended for women my answer is always “It’s better for women than for men”.  Why? Because normally when a woman gets attacked, the attacker is not trying to box or kick-box with her. The attacker most likely wants to grab her and control her movements and this often includes taking her to the ground. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is perfect for that type of confrontation.

Benefits of BJJ for Women

  • Women learn how to escape, hold, control, and submit an opponent from the ground.
  • Using the principles of leverage and angles, BJJ equips women with the defensive tools required to subdue or escape a larger  or stronger person’s aggression.
  • Women’s classes are open to only women with perhaps one advanced male student to assist with demonstrations.

“Our family found a great way to have a good time together.  My wife, kids and I train BJJ, and even when my nieces are in town, they train too.Since we started, we feel more united – by the uniform,  mat and by Paulo’s philosophy. We are amazed to have this kind of place and incentive! Paulo daily creates that very oriented family environment. And I’m very, very thankful for chosen them.” Antonio de La Cruz, Marine
